The U5030 has the Tier 3 Mitsubishi motor with 203 cu.in., while the new XU5055 has Tier 4 Shibaura motor with 135 cu.in. Does cu. in. matter for engine longevity in this case and would you be concerned with it? A dealer told me the new Shibaura Tier 4 motor is quiet, fuel efficient, and even feels more powerful than the Tier 3 Mitsubishi. Was wondering if that's all dealer talk since they are now required to sell Tier 4 to meet emissions standards or in fact if that's true? Anyone have any advice for me between these two models based on your personal experience or knowledge? Thanks.

All I know is we have a lot of Mitsubishi industrial motors in our off road equipment and we have no problem with them. Good strong motor.... . I have the 5020 I only have160 hrs on it so far no issues and do not expect any. Does the teir 4 have to burn down after so many hours or how else do they meet requirements?

More cubic inches and a world class engine in the S4S, it's a no brainier. The U5030 hands down.

Not sure about having to burn down after so many hours? I was told the Tier 4 was common rail. Just not that familiar with it.

My 2 ¢ proven engine let the tier 4 have some more time on them if they are a new design.

I just purchased an XR4046HC and yes it does have a burner, it comes on for a few minutes once in a while, but doesn't seem to effect anything it's totally silent. The power is really smooth and it is pretty quiet. there is no exhaust fumes at all.

I have found a few U5030's and dealer says they have been on the lot for about 5 to 6 months and doesn't have any hours on them. I'd prefer one that hasn't been out in the weather for that amount of time myself. But I'm still leaning towards the U5030 with theTier 3 motor.

I just purchased the U5030 about two months ago. I love it. I cut, raked and round baled about thirty acres right off the bat with zero problems (which is what we all expect from a new tractor). I am currently bush hogging another 40+ acres. I love the tractor and am already putting my mods in it (bucket hooks, hydraulic top link). I would highly recommend it.

I just purchased a U5030 about 2 months ago and have about 35 hours on it now, with most of those hours coming from hauling trees out of the woods. The motor is incredibly smooth, loads of torque and very quiet - far quieter than my MF1533 or the Mahindra 5035 (just test drove it). When I purchase it the dealer said that the tier 4's would be $3-4000 more than the tier 3 machines. Not sure if that's a sales tactic or reality - even so, I wanted to stay with a tier 3 due to the fact that it's simpler than a tier 4 and it's a proven engine.
