u5030 hood won't pop open

Went to pop the hood to clean my air filter and it won't open. The release cable feels like its working, but the hood remains latched. Pretty frustrating, to say the least.
Any ideas on how to get this thing open?

Got it. Needed to put down pressure on the hood while pulling the cable.
