I am a newbe to your forum. Never owned a tractor and just moved into our new home in June 06. Have approx 3.5 acres. About an even 50/50 split between finish moving and brush hog (open field). Also would maintain about 3 acres of open field for my father. I know the fel won't do as much as larger tractor-but i need to move some dirt and keep my driveway maintained. Would also be hauing firewood in loader or pulling cart.

Anyway after all this rambling, i can buy TZ25, 60 MMM and FEl for 12,400. I have a seperate dealer that will sell BX2350 same as above for same price. I have not priced JD 2305 yet but JD has 2005 2210 with 54 MMM and FEL and 140 HRS for 11,500. What should I do?? I am not sure if I am ready to buy but deal on NH or BX may be too good to pass up. Also is TZ or BX enough machine? Thanks for input.

Welcome to TBN! :)

Personally, I would go up one size for your needs, to a TC23/TC26.
I have 3.6 acres that I mow with my finish mower, but I also have some brush-hogging to do on occasion. I also maintain 250 feet of driveway.
I'm using a New Holland TC18, which has since been replaced by the TC23/TC26 (same size tractor, but with large engines). I think it's perfectly sized for my lot! I've attached a picture below.

Try one out at the dealer, or a similar Kubota and see how it feels! Good luck!

I'm assuming you are not planning on trying to Bush Hog with the MMM. The TZ tractors in my opinion are a tad small for Bush Hogging. I would go up at least one size.

The two rigs your talking about would do the job but will take you longer to do over the rigs AndyM mentioned. I bought too small and ended taking mine back after a year and trading up. I just think over all the small compact over the sub-compact you would be much happer with. Also if I remember right the price from the two was not that much different. Check out the New Hollands as AndyM mentioned, test drive them along with other comparables. Go with the one that fits you best and most of all make sure you like the dealer and he likes you.

Many regret buying too small, rarely hear anyone complain about buying to big. Ihave not read any posts from someone who had to downsize. Only posts from folks who had to buy a bigger machine.

Since you will own the tractor for 20 years, what is an extra few thousand dollars? 200 a year?

Also, if the delaer you like is willing to do it, try one on your property for a demo (3 hrs is good). Nothing like really using the tractor before you buy. After my 3 hr demo, I went with a bigger tractor. Saved me money in the long run.
