My BX2200 has the classic full-tank leak issue - defective sending unit seal or something like that. I try to fill it to <3/4 tank, but often overshoot and end up with a little puddle dribbling down my rear tire...you all know what I'm talking about. I don't know about you guys, but my BX gets horrible fuel mileage for a diesel (at least compared to my 45HP L4200, which easily gets twice the run time as my BX on the same fuel) and I'm ALWAYS having to add fuel to the little thing, which I hate, so I tend to try to put as much in as I can when I do...you see where I'm going with this. Anyhoo, I seem to remember reading that fixing the defect is a colossal PITA, so I'm wondering if it is worth fixing, or should I just suck it up and keep the tank half empty all the time?

I would recommend you fix the leak. Last thing you need is for it to catch fire from a short in the wiring or a very hot HST.

My tank is fairly accessible but I have not had any leak issues. Fuel consumption is minimal on by BX. Much better than my 22hp gasser.

BX's generally have a reputation for miserly fuel consumption even under heavy use. If yours is thirsty, beyond the leakage, I think it's a sign of some other issues. Of course if you're working up to going tractor shopping, I could fully understand the sentiments☺

My FILs Bx1850 us amazing on fuel, he can plow his 350ft driveway all winter and maybe fill once..mows his 2 plus acre lawn weekly and fills every 6 weeks-2 months. .I'd say something is wrong with the machine. .it should go alot further on the same fuel as a 45hp tractor..especially considering it's probably doing less work.
