I was very close to buying a T474 to replace my John Deere 3320R but I did an anonymous call to check on getting parts. I am going into day 3 and they can't even give me a price on the part much less availability. I asked what was going on and they said they have to call in each request to corporate because they are a new dealer but they have been a TYM dealer for over a year. Is this normal? I usually get my JD parts online can this be done with TYM? I have looked but so far everything directs me to my local dealer.

+1 to SR1 being known for being pretty good. I was able to order my 50hr filters from Georgia Land Equipment LLC. with zero hassle. Steve Street at Mathis Trailers & Equipment Sales - New & Used Agriculture Sales, Service, and Parts with locations in Rome, GA and Leesburg, AL, near Lindale and Collinsville is also fairly well known for being responsive.

My closest local dealer is a total crook, I wouldn't buy anything from him no matter what he was selling. The next two dealers a bit further out were both good to deal with though. The dealer does matter... It's a bit thinner in the PNW where I'm at than the midwest or southeast. The Kubota and Deere dealers are pretty thick and there's a few large Massey dealers (one of which also carries Yanmar.. I was sorely tempted by the new Yanmar YT359.. nice looking tractor, some of the newer Massey's didn't look terrible either).

Wow! I called Georgia Land Equipment because they are 2.5 hours away and if I had to I could make that drive or even buy the tractor from them. They gave me the price over the phone and said it would be at my door in 2 days.
For everyone that replied - thank you.

Awesome! You're really doing your homework; have you given a look at the TYM 20 series as well?

Yes on the 20 series but I in the woods 80% of the time and I want the smaller size. Georgia Land Equipment got a tractor sale today. They will deliver it to me next week.

Good deal! It's worth shopping around and I think your approach on doing the anon phone call was pretty smart.

Hope you enjoy your new tractor as much as I have mine :)

So. Did you end up buying the T474?

And thanks for the replies to this thread guys. Time for me to find, and keep track of, as much information on the TYM T474 as I can.

If it helps, the 474 shares an engine with the 4815, 494/574 and 4820/5520. The only difference with the 55 hp models is turbo.

I'll admit that for a while I had a chip on my shoulder about what would become SR1, but most of it was related to what happened to the Branson dealer I was really a fan of and would go on to buy implements from. This was not the fault of SR1, but TYM, and I know that, but that dealer got absolutely shafted.

Any other complaints I've heard about them are from when they started out, and they have come a LONG way. These days I attend their events, check their lot out a few times a year, and really am impressed with where they're at. I trust I would be happy to purchase a TYM from SR1, if the CK wasn't better suited for me than the 15 series. ;)
