Has anyone ever swaped out a Mitsubishi S4L2 with something else. We have this tym tractor and the guys keep over heating it and blowing head gaskets know it is in the shop and i think it is almost dead

Has the shop checked the head for warpage and cracks. Might only need some head work or a new head. If the motor is bad, many pieces of equipment used the same S4L2 engine. Mainly in construction types like excavators but also a few compact tractors. Here's an applications chart. I briefly looked through and found several brands that used an S4L2.
