tym 293 hst PTO issue

Has anybody had this issue with their PTO?
when the tractor is running and the PTO lever is in the off position I engage the PTO button on the dash and the motor dies? I have been back and forth with the dealership on the phone and it was narrowed down to PTO solenoid(dealer had to talk with TYM). I ordered the part( number provided by TYM) and drove an hour and half to pick it up, noticed at the dealer that the part looked different. well drove home and it was the wrong part. long story longer I'm going to take the tractor in but I don't think the part they want to change is bad just wanted to see if anybody else has had this issue. here is my trouble shooting:

With tractor running, engage PTO switch: engine dies
with tractor running and PTO solenoid(actuator)removed, engage PTO: engine continues to run, PTO does not run. Put a screw driver thru the solenoid actuator hole and can feel it magnetize.

Bad PTO switch? Tractor is designed to NOT start if the PTO switch is in the engaged position. I wonder if the reverse is happening, and the tractor while running is being shut down when you flip the PTO switch. Long shot, but it's easy enough to pull the PTO switch and direct wire it. Mine actually broke and I know have a cheap radioshack flip switch duct-taped to the dash cluster. . .

Update.....
it took awhile but after talking with local dealer, who had to call Corporate I got a part on order (PTO solenoid, the donut shaped electrical part on the PTO valve). part came in and was the wrong size so I dropped the tractor off at the dealer to let them deal with it. the dealer had to reorder part which had to be shipped from Korea(3-4 weeks) this part was the same size as the first one...Wrong. more phone calls back and forth going on a little over a month at the dealer. I started sending emails then calling north Carolina myself which finding emails and numbers for this company is a pain. they final took off and sent the dealer the right part from a tractor there. I guess that the PTO solenoid changed at some point and my tractor had the old one and that is why I kept getting the wrong part. tractor working fine now.

Hi Burnitout,
Glad to read that you finally got it fixed! Will you share with us all the proper/correct part number for the solenoid?

I've not had any issues with the PTO switch on my 273 but am always eager to learn part numbers that may some day come in handy.
