I have the 6' Groomerr FM by Modern Products (Dragon Equip) and it has 2 belts that drive the blades. I am about to replace the bottom belt and want to make sure I do it the right way. Has anyone here changed a two belt system and know any special or easy ways to do it?

I was always under the impression that dual belts needed to be changed in pairs. One wearing prematurely could indicate a problem.

This is a Chinese Copy of a Caroni. I will say for a copy they are very good with the exception of the tires and wheels. I know a guy who has had 1 for 5 years and no issues other than changing the wheels with some he picked up off of Surplus Center.

I would change both belts and keep the good one for a spare. That is what I will do when my dual belt Caroni has a belt failure.

I would just take off the good belt and take it to the auto parts store and get a quality belt like a gates, ect. As mentioned before check everything over when you have it apart to see if anything made the belt fail prematurely.

Thanks for your replys. I really don't know a lot about these FM, as I am learning as I go. Just got the new JD 3032 E in 2009. When you put the belts on do you have to remove the blades or just the unit on top to get access?
I see what you mean about the HD wheels as they need to be replaced with something a little more functional. It seems to work well in the mowing department. I traded a used Lawn tractor even for the FM. The 18 HP Simplicity was given to me so I have no money other than the belt in it.

Do you have to take off the unit motor and bracing off the top to put the belts on? I don't think this thing has been off before as it is really torqued down.

There is no way for us to know exactly how much disassembly is required to change your belts without the mower sitting in front of us. Typically, all you have to do is remove the sheet metal covers one each side that cover the belts. (Note: the covers and belts are on the top side of the unit) After the covers are off find out what is keeping the belts tight then release the belt tension. Do not remove the belts until you know how they go back on. The belt routing around the pulleys is very important. There is probably a diagram on your mower or in the owner's manual. If you can't find a diagram of the belt routing take a picture of the belts before you take them off. Most of the time you only have to remove the belt covers to change belts. Some mowers require more disassembly. Trial and error will be your teacher on this one.

Hey sorry for not getting back to this thread earlier.

Here is the manual my friend has for his. Its a 5' manual but his is a 6' but that does not matter, they are the same.

Like Andy said just remove the covers and go at it. The 3 point hitch does not have to be removed, atleast not on my Caroni. Take your time and make a note of the belt routing.
