Now that my 3016HST is out of warranty I would like to modify it a little. I couldn't find any information on adjusting the settings of the injection pump to bump up the power. I know it has tamper resistant caps but don't know which is which. Has anybody on here played with their 3016 pump settings? Or are there any other tractors that use the same pump that I may research for the answers?

I think software is a much easier and faster way of increasing power IMO?....Dont think we have heard anyone doing this yet?....Like what Banks and a few other companies have done with the power stroke.... If some one believes there is a market for this, you will see it....

There should a screw with a lock nut on it. This is your main fuel adjustment screw. All will have this.

Probably not your injection pump, but it should look something like this...

I have my fuel turned up on both my Massey and Cat. Read up on the physics behind it and decide if its right for you. Just make sure you take a picture to put it back if needed.

No software in a 3016, SedonaDave.

Here's a video which goes through a Zexel Bosch PFR injection pump (same series pump as what's in your tractor):

Here's a service bulletin openly published by Bosch explaining injection pump bench procedures, which does include fuel delivery adjustment for a similar pump (again, PFR type). Page 17: http://apps.bosch.com.au/aaextranet_techsearch/docs/servicebulletin/si441.pdf

Note that each cylinder is set independently. That means without the specialty bench equipment you'll be winging it and setting each cylinder apart from the others...it's very likely it won't end up balanced. I guess it's up to you how much you reeeeeally want that extra fuel. :confused3:

That's a rotary pump, which would have a single adjustment for delivery...the Bosch PFR type pump is an inline (rack driven) pump and operates differently.

Indirect injection means that the fuel is injected into pre-chambers in the cylinder head, as opposed to directly into the main combustion chamber. It's still a diesel, and as such is fuel-metered engine. It has no carb like a gasoline engine which is air-metered.

Anywho, the OP asked about it, so the linked material should help him out. Whether or not it's good idea or will net much power gain are different questions - FWIW, I doubt you'd get a 10% (3hp) power increase without smoking like crazy, at which point you're just dumping unburnt fuel out the exhaust.

Depending on which type of inj. system is on the machine will determine how you go about it..
IF its the single cylinders pumps, follow the pumps to the end of the block.. there will be an adjust screw w/ a tamperproof cap on it..
IF its the pump like Snobbs pic.. ONLY screw the main fuel screw IN 1/2 turn.. NO MORE.
There are some utube videos on turning up a Kubota that may be helpful.. Good luck.

In my humble opinion I would leave it like you bought it. I am not sure how much more power (HP or Torque) you are trying to get out of it. If your machine is not strong, powerful or heavy enough like it is you might be better off trading it in and getting a larger, heavier machine. If you are trying to get 5-10 more HP in my opinion you are not gaining that much since your weight will be the same. Like I said, its your call and just my 2 cents worth.

No turbo, no real HP gain, don't roll coal! Good luck getting 10%.

That being said, I turned up my L39 as it is heavy and 37+ real net Hp is just not enough. I don't "roll coal" I maybe got another 2 HP, did a little better in torque dept., but mainly I just feel better turning it up a bit. I can call it a 40 HP tractor now. Just like with hydraulic pumps, supercharger boost, etc. You just have to know when to stop.
