New thread on an old subject. Found two more scrapers a while ago, they will be mine next trip to the lake. Don稚 really need them but hate to see them go for scrap metal. Again the price is right.
Tumblebugs are home now.. Yellow one was made here in Saskatchewan, 150 miles from where I live. Searching for info on the time frame of it's origin. The company made all sorts of early graders up to modern motorized uniits, as well as very large snow blowers and plows.
Did you get a chance to look at vid ? So you don't know what a tumblebug is/was but you know what the urban dictionary refers to as a "whippersnapper" lol . I got a feeling you know more about them than me .
Some out west like in Wyo etc call them a "slip out" . Basically a scope shoval you drag it behind you and pull the rope, it tumbles and scrapes up dirt. You pull the rope again and it turns and holds the dirt. You drive to where you want to dump it , raise the 3point and pull the rope. It turns again and dumps out the dirt .
Sears and Roebuck used to sell them , and Massy/ Ferg . If you just pulling my leg , or have used one , owned one etc .
Educate us ! Tell us the good /bad and ugly about them if you don't mind . I never owned or used one .
However I'am sure "dirt scopes " are still sold new .
Look up squatch253 on youtube , he's got a few videos up using and explaining, very well I might add, the tumblebug. His site is a pleasure to watch, excellent speaker and teacher, his knows his stuff especially old CAT's...........Mike
The vids put out by squatch are great. These do not hook up to the three pt, draw bar only. From my thoughts, on the ones I have, the linkage at the hitch uses pulling pressure to lift the cutting edge when it gets full. Even the small one has a variable hitch system, allowing the cutting edge to raise. Hope to hook up to one soon to try to figure out the operation. Need some more eyes for the operation. I can see one being useful on the dirt bike track.
yup they are for sure.
Made a post on Youtube awhile back saying how much I like his videos and how well they're narrated and explained, I asked him why he doesn't teach, "Can't speak in front of people' was his answer. You'd never know it........Mike
Found an old sales brochure from Richardson Machinery on E Bay. It's on the way to me now. The first one I aquired also seems to be a Richardson. Hope the sales literature gives some insight. The cutting edge on the yellow one is reversible in perfect condition on the first edge, never used on the second. Like very little use on rock free soil.
