i have an older jd tsr (trs?) 32 snowblower. i replaced the original friction drive wheel last winter becaust it would no longer pull itself when in gear. rubber was shreaded. put a new one on last season and used it 2 or 3 times, and that one did the same thing. replaced this year and used 2 times and it did it again. what is causing this?. i did notice after pulling apart the other day that there were 3 very small burrs on the drive plate that the rubber on friction wheel rides on so i sanded them down. also had 1/4" of in and out play on drive plate axle so i shimmed out play w/ washer/bushing. now less than 1/32" play. drive plate is solid on its axle otherwise. was told there should be aprox 1/4" between friction plate and drive plate which there is. new fdp will be here in a couple wheels but i dont want to have to buy a new one every other snowstorm. why is this shreading friction wheel?????? im stumpted.
