I'm looking at buying the above for my 4310 JD. Does anyone have this spreader? What do you think of it? Can you spread pelletized lime, salt or sand, corn?
Do I need any additional parts to hook up this attachment to my Cat 1 hitch? Any special bushins, etc.?

Help!!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I have a magrix seeder, which for all intents and purposes is an identical unit to that cosmo. The parts breakdown and exploded diagrams for that cosmo was what i used to work onmy magrix.. so the are pert'near same unit.

I've use dmine behind my 27hp ford 8n, and used cat 1-2 bushings and use dit on my ford 5000.

Spreads seed fine.. should spread peletized lime great as well.. corn too.

I imagine sand will spread ok.. but I'd use a lower pto speed, and realize that you will probably get alot of wear and tear spreading sand.

Mine has a good agitator, so i suspect it would do better than average with hi-cal lime or ag lime.. but.. that stuff is just a bear in any hopper spreader..e tc.

All you need is 2 linch pins and your toplink to hookup to a cat 1 tractor...

As always.. check for pto shaft clearance at min / max travel of 3pt..

mscheer772.

Please fill out your profile. It makes it easier for people to help you in several aspects. Where are you located! If you are near TN then I would check out the sponsor Carter & Carter here on TBN. They are a lot less $$ if you are not far from TN.

I just bought the same thing! I tried to do a little research here, as I always do, but did not find much to go with. I just used it today and I must say I am very peased with it. I find it to be consistent and accurate, as far as I can tell anyway. I just used it to spread fertilizer.

I see that TSC says it holds up to 500 lbs. I was under the impression the one I have will hold 800. I will have to look into that tomorow.

How much are looking at paying?

If you spread fert. clean that thing out after you use it. Repaint the insides when metal shows. I keep an old beater spreader for fert. and that nicer one for seed ..

How wide of a pattern dose it throw? Is the with of the pattern adjustable from narrow to wide. I am thinking of purchasing one of these myself but was wondering about the pattern of it.

The width is adjustable based ont he pto speed, and the height of the implement... running at 600 rpm on a cat 2 tractor will get you more width than running 400 pto rpm on a scut...

There are changes you can make to the drop plate to control seed rate drop, and well as where it drops on the wheel... at least mine does, and the similar models.. etc.

Actually, it will hold more. I spread 3650# of pelletized lime last weekend. Filled the hopper four times; three full and the fourth was a partial. So I'm guessing the first three were close to 1000# each.

But note that TSC says " Includes Agitator Up To 500 Lb ". Rephrased, this means you can use the agitator attachment that comes with it to stir (up to) 500 pounds, or about half a hopper of the heavy stuff.
