I was at TSC today looking at the Premium Universal Tractor Hydraulic Fluid. I stopped the store manager as he walked by and talked to him about the fluid. He told me the Travellers brand was made by Shell and relabeled for TSC. After I returned home I searched extensively on the web and could not find any info on that statement. Does anyone have other any info on this.

I'm not sure, but, I would call "Travellers" and ask for the MSDS (Material Safety Data SHeet). I would then look at the MSDS for the manufacturer.

I have used the MSDS to call the manufacturer to determine the fluids specification. I bought some hydraulic fluid locally for my NH. The MSDS allowed me to ask the manufacturer what specs the fluid met, not just guess.

I haven't been able to find any MSDS info on line about Travellers hydro fluids. Next time I'm at TSC I'll have to see if they have a copy.

As others have said, get the MSDS info; and locations ARE supposed to keep copies on file since employees handle the stuff. Most places will not have loose leaf handouts, but a binder with the info which can be either viewed at location, or copied. The problem is with the minimum wage help, most don't know what they are, when updates/changes arrive in the manila envelope, they just get tossed somewhere, plus the chance of a store selling a very low toxicity product getting a surprise visit for compliance is slim to none. Did you check the small print on the bucket for a phone # or web site?. I bet the store manager is both right and wrong; when I bought my sliding barn door rollers there a while back, I looked over the Traveler line and it is a large product line, so Shell may make some of the products; probably antifreeze at least, and there may be several suppling other products in that line of products, which may or may not be the same at all parts of the country, nor all times of the year. I had heard Warren supplied some of the oil.

I have a feeling that it is probably true its made by Shell. I use fluids sold by Rural King under the name of Harvest King and after some research I found out they were made by Citgo.

Good thread--

I know nothing about WMT Supertech oils and such but am tempted each time I walk by. Is it worth a look?

Supertech oil are great if you are not compared anything. They are cheap since they are cheaper oils.
