TBN'ers:

After research from here, local dealers, the Woods website and contacting the H.Q., it appears that dealers do not stock the heavy duty Gannon scrapers. It must be purchased sight unseen and shipped from the factory in CA. $$$$$$$$$$

As I would like to see one in person prior to purchase, I need your help in locating a current owner. I am interested in the HD-4472 HXD or HD-4480 HXD models.

I have been quoted approx. $2700.00 plus freight by the local dealers. I live in NW Connecticut and will take a day trip to look
one over.

Thanks:

HI,
I have the H-120 low back, manual scarifier bar. It is the same basic construction, just smaller and not hydraulicly operated. It has never even hiccup'ed in many many hours of use. I have hit buried boulders that stopped the tractor dead and bent a 3pt arm, but there was no damage at all to the box. Good stuff. It is one rugged piece of equipment.

I think your quotes may be a bit high. I paid $1454 in 2001. I can't imagine that the addition of a single hydraulic cylinder, some hose and a connector doubles the price!

I saw one sell at auction 4 weeks back. To be honest, I'm suprised they sell as "cheap" as you've been quoted. It was the "Sherman Tank" of box blades. Used and rough condition, it sold for $990.

Walt, I don't suppose I could interest you in a Gill R20 Heavy Duty Rollover Box Scraper, we've got one that's slightly used or shall I say "experienced". We will also treat you right on new equipment. www.woodburytractor.com

Hi Walt,

I am afraid we may be too far apart for you to come look, but I own a Gannon HD-315LR box blade for about 30 years. I think cost me around 1300.00 then. It has 24" high back, Hydraulic teeth, swinging back blade.

It has been used on the farm behind the shown 40 hp tractor & a 120 HP tractor. I have seen dirt rolling over the top of the 24" back and have snagged it on buried rocks, ETC. So far no damage.

Attached is maybe the best picture I have of it, with a drag behind. The blade is 76" wide.

Hope this helps.

After re-reading my post, I noted that I left out some info.
I need a box scraper for the L-39 TLB, that can double as a counter weight for using the loader with the backhoe off. The Gannon also has hydraulic scarifiers, which I can use with my rear remotes.

The heaviest Woods/Landpride ag models are 900 lb.
The Gannon models are 1300-1400lbs which is a better counter-balance for the 2200 lb. lift loader.

My experience has shown that weight equals traction with a compact tractor, and as such more weight is better.

Walt, there is another manufacture you may want to look at also that builds industrial boxblades.
I have one of their 66" models that is very well built. Cammond
