Been having problems starting the above. It's hit or miss but when it's having problems starting we move the HST peddle forward and back a few times and that does the trick.

We checked the clutch peddle safety button and that is working just fine.

Any help appreciated

If it's under warranty have the dealer come out and fix it. If it isn't it could just be a simple adjustment.

I'm having the same problem. It started with a large stick that got jammed underneath on the right side below the HST pedal. It ended up bending the HST neutral return. That's the thing with the rubber sleeve on it that moves back and forth as you move the HST pedal.

It bent the rod on that part just enough that it can't find exact neutral. And it appears it has to be exact.

Exact same issue with my L3700SU. Less than 10 hours on the tractor. :(

Not under warranty anymore...it seems to be siting correnctly in the V notch under the peddle ( not sure how else to say it)

Look where the HST linkage pushes up against the safety switch. It's just above that v-notch and to the left as you're looking at it from seat.

Make sure plunger for safety switch moves freely. I had to stick some tape on the part that pushes plunger so that the plunger would think HST was in neutral. I have a bent neutral return rod and need to replace it.

Darn ol' HST transmissions... ;) Just kidding. It sounds like it's either out of adjustment or the switch is sticking. You might have to replace the switch if it's faulty. How old is the tractor? I thought the L3800's were only 2 years old at the most, I'd think the 3rd year of warranty (powertrain only) would cover this.
