I have been reading these posts and gleaning much useful info, but this is my first post. I have a 2007 l3940 hst which developed a hydraulic oil leak. Not much but any is too much for my fussy self. Traced it to the "inlet pipe" (part#170-3334-0) a rubber hose that goes from the hyd fluid filter housing to the hyd pump. It appears to be the feed for the pump. It has a small split in it right at the flange where it connects to the metal pipe from the filter housing. I ordered a replacement part which was backed ordered. Dealer has contacted Kubota to track one down and the best he can up with is one that has yet to be unloaded from a shipping container. Could be another couple of weeks!
This raises two questions:
1) Is this a fluke, or are Kubota parts hard to get? Have had no trouble getting filters and stuff.
2) Can I put a temporary patch on this hose? Was thinking of putting a short piece of radiator hose over it with a couple of hose clamps, maybe bedded in a layer of silicone gasket cement. The split is mostly right over the metal pipe flange. Does anyone know how much oil pressure is on this hose?
Thanks all!

Try Messicks

Try wrapping it with electrical tape if you can get at it, or just wait for new part to arrive and don't bother.

Thanks, yeah Messick's are on the top of my phone call list for tomorrow.

I have worked for or been around Kubota dealers for almost 25 years. Of the big 3, Kubota is by far the easiest to get parts from. Everytime I have had to order parts that were backordered to Japan I had them in 3 days. I usually get them faster than parts from the Texas warehouse. I'm not sure why they are telling you 2 weeks unless it is lingering effects of the tsunami.

If this is an inlet pipe it would see more vacuum than pressure. if it does not have any preformed bends in it a good hydraulic shop should have suction hose on hand. NOTE: MAke sure the hose is rated for vacuum/suction use.

I had the same hose fail, but back in 2008 when the tractor was only a year old.

Got it in a few days and they covered it.

It could be their standard answer is two weeks when it comes in less time then they are a hero!
