Hello all!

Ive got a 1985 ford 555 4wd backhoe with what i believe to be a carraro front axle. There is a 6 notched castleated nut that i ned to remov eto replace the u joints but i cannot find anything anywhere! Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If it doesn't take a special tool to remove, could you take a flat screwdriver and a hammer to tap it with to get it started backing off?

Maybe I’m being dense, but it’s not exactly clear what help you are looking for.
sory im looking for the socket to remove the hub nut ( the notched nut at the back of the image)

Remove snap ring, then outer gear. Now you need Spindle nut socker or other tool that fits. Like this
Spindle socket.
Or you can make one out of some right sized pipe, cut out or weld on the nubs.

Beating it off works but hard to tighten to any spec that way

i believe it does need a special tool and they are tourqed very high so i think id be fighting a losing battle!

ive got the snap ring and gear off but cant find a socket with 6 notches that big/deep enough so i guess im going to have to make one as i imagine a custom made one will empty my pockets! Thanks

Here is my collection. I only have one 6 tab socket on the far right. Others probably have many more. Very seldom used now.

The details on the 6 tab are, 2.325" ID at the tabs approx.

2.580" on the OD even though the description says 2 5/8.

Socket depth is 2.31" not including a corner weld/ aka 2 pc assembly.
