Tractor
2010 Kioti DK55
Hello Everyone,
My wife and I have a 2010 Kioti DK55 Tractor that I got right after we bought our 66 ac of timber land. I retired in 2016 to live on our land and manage our forest. We have just under 600 hours on our tractor and I loan it to my neighbor on a regular basis when he needs it. I have just broken my Hand accelerator cable for the second time, but this time I am going to try to replace it myself. Open to hear any tips ya'll might have. I also need to replace my 4wd Lamp Switch cause it will not stay on, unless I duct tape it down/on. I am also looking for a Parts Manual for my tractor or a web site where I can look up the parts I need for my tractor. Looking forward from hearing from all you experienced tractor owners. I need to learn a lot about taking care and repairing my own tractor.

Take Care

Hello their neighbor. You are in a pretty location - over there on the Ea side of the lake. Welcome to TBN & the forum. You should re-post your request for info on the Kioti site - Kioti Owning/Operating sub heading. It will get more "action".

Thank you all for the welcome. I just found the website for Michigan Iron & Equipment yesterday after joining the TBN. I just got home from going to my local dealer in Post Falls to order my parts, but I am thinking I am going to order online also to see which get here first. My local Kioti dealer take weeks to get parts, which is one of the things I am not happy about Kioti.

Take care everyone

First TIP is to never loan anything to neighbors , friends , family , guy on the corner . That's why it was broken in the first place . The one that gets me is if someone borrows something and doesn't bring it back in a day , week , month or at all and you ask for it back . They are all put out they have to bring it back .

I hate to sound so cynical (even though I am!) but I agree with Highgear 100%. In my younger days, I would happily loan out my tools to friends. Then there were several instances when the tools were "lost", or broken. In every instance, my "friends" replaced my $200+ name brand tool with a $15 Harbor Freight knock off. In one instance, my 'friend' said "AWW it really wasn't that big a deal, was it?" (& didn't bother to replace it at all)

Anyway, if I had a neighbor who wanted to borrow anything as expensive as my tractor (& I really wanted to help him out), I would just loan him my tractor - complete with an operator (me).

In all honesty, it really could cause bad blood between neighbors, he might be operating it very gently, and yet it might have a catastrophic failure that could be thousands $ to repair,, he WILL NOT be willing to 'help' with the costs, and you could never be sure he wasn't abusing it.

I fully realize it's none of my business....I'm just saying you might (gently) let him know where there are comparable tractors for rent.

About the accelerator cable,, I have never had to replace mine - and my 2007 DK45 may not be the same as yours, but mine would be very simple to replace. Standing next to the right step, you can look under the (lower) right side of the Dash panel and see the connection to both the hand and foot throttles, the cable goes straight forward through the firewall to the right side of the engine. There is a bracket where the cable connects (and is adjusted). After loosening the connection, the cable has a ball end which can be slipped out of the speed control lever. If yours is like mine, you can observe the whole installation without removing anything other than the right side engine cover,,,so you should have no problem in deciding if the job is "up your alley".

Good Luck! (& welcome to the forum)

PS This might be a good time to ask your neighbor if he would like to help you repair your tractor???

Kioti Pual & Highgear

Thank you for your suggestions and help. I have ordered my accelerator cable but a usual it will take two weeks for my local deal to get it. It does look like it should be a simple remove and replace, and I will keep my fingers crossed. Our neighbor is more like an adopted son to my wife and I, and he has helped us as much if not more by being there when we needed help. Yes, he does not take care of things as well as I would, I know that, and I am working under the idea that I will give him the benefit, until he screws me once, than I will stop loaning him items. I was raised in E. Taxas and that was the way I was brought up. Yes he broke the cable the first time, and a few other things, but they were things that I think was from normal ware and tare, and he has offer to get them repaired. I know it is a slippery slope, but I am trusting until, I am done wrong.

I will say, so far, there seems to be some real nice fellow tractors owner's here, and I appreciate all the information given. This is my second life as a tree farmer and land owner and I am starting late in life having retired from a defense contractor job in 2016 and need all the help I can get.
