I found 11 small fir trees on my land that i would like to transplant near my house. I need a to block some views on the property line. So i am hoping they survive the transplanting. The biggest one is maybe 8 foot tall and about 3"dia. I read that you want about 9" per inch of tree. So 27" root ball. By maybe a foot deep. Does anyone have any experience with this? any thought on peatmoss or other fertilizers for the soil. They are now in lower moist soil. And I am putting them in higher rocky soil. I have a BH and FEL so i am not to worried about carrying a big root ball.
