Transmission temperature - BX24

I must say that I'm surprised that my BX24 doesn't have a transmission temperature gauge. Has anyone ever added one? My old 70's Wheel Horses have such a gauge, in addition to hour meter, engine temp, oil pressure, and a voltmeter. The Kubota's kinda weak in this area. I'd especially like to be able to keep an eye on it while spun around operating the backhoe, so perhaps I can a generic gauge and sender and mount it on the hoe itself.

I don't know what temp mine gets but last weekend i coulden't even hold on the dipper stock cylinder after I ran it for about 10 hrs

I won't have any hair left on my calves by the time I finish excavating my walkway. Although, I keep breaking my backhoe while the Kubota dealer's closed, so maybe the downtime will give my hair enough time to grow back.

Last summer I was trenching on a 100 degree day. I leaned against my hoe. Where one of the fittings touched my arm I got a water blister.

It's been posted here a few times that BX hydro fluid runs about 100 degrees hotter than the ambient temp.

If Kubota wants to spend a little more $$, I'd rather have a tranny cooler than a temp gauge.

I haven't found to many tractor hydraulic systems that don't run close to 200 degree's when they are working. I als know that none of the other tractor's I sell have a gauge for it. The biggest thing with the sub-compacts is to check on the fan from time to time if you are on rough ground where a stick might be able to break off a fan blade or two. I have a customer who has replaced two while maintaining his seven acres in the last seven years. He did say he heard both when they broke and the second time he said he knew he shouldn't have been pushing over that many limbs and was asking for it to happen.

I have wondered the same thing. I would be willing to bet that the temp switch just screws into a spot on the hydro that is currently covered with a plug.
