Well it has happened my little 2615 has developed an issue. After about 3 hours of rotary mowing with a 60" mower that is probably a too big for the tractor(its the first time i have every used it on this tractor, My tractor blew the seal out of the housing. This seal is located directly above the pto. Luckily if blew off about a 100' from the shed. My question is what type of sealant was used on this seal from the factory. It almost had a rubber cement feel to it. I have cleaned all of it off and was going to use this same seal, b/c it looks fine, but now im wondering about it and its cheap enough just to order a new one. Has anybody else on teh forum had this seal to pop out? And do u think it was because using the heavy 60" mower (tractor handled it fine though).

Ive attached an image (thx to mahindrapartsplus.net) , the seal is #11. Any thing special i need to know about install it?

thx
scott

Better check for a plugged vent. I very much doubt the 60in mower had anything to do with the problem except getting the oil warm. Your tractor should power that mower, just be sure you are not lugging the engine. If you are dropping RPMs then just move forward at a slower pace.

tractor handled it fine, really easy mowing, no dirt or trees, just sage brush. Would you happen to know where the vent is located? Also is it as easy as popping the seal back in?

The plugged vent is probably a good bet. I have a customer, that had this happen but he didn't find the original. I didn't have the seal in stock, so I made one out of wood, for a temporary repair. The wooden seal has worked so well he wanted me to leave it there, and it has been there for over a year now.

checked the vent and it appeared to be ok, couldnt get it off w/o taking fuel tank off, but i was able to push a wire up in it without obstruction. I dont know why it happened. What is the purpose of the seal/plug? is it just for inspection of the bearing?

thx

I use a 5' RC with my 2615. Most of the 400 plus hours on my tractor are with the RC. I doubt the RC was the problem.

what i did notice is that once i installed the seal again, and checked my hdro fluid level, it was dead on full. I wonder if having to much fluid could have caused the problem.
