I have a 2010 LS R4020 with only 78 hours on it. It has had ALL scheduled maintenance and checks performed on it. About 4 weeks ago, I drove it about 6 miles, into town to have a small amount of work done on the FEL mounting bracket. It drove and shifted perfectly, as it always has. When I went to pick it up, the shifter was stuck and will not move out of whatever gear it is stuck in (I think it's stuck in 2nd gear). The range selector works perfectly and the F-N-R shuttle shifter works perfectly. The clutch adjustment is correct and working properly. It is not stuck in 4WD. The rear differential lock is not engaged. The brakes are not stuck. But the shift lever will not move and it won't even shift into neutral (except on the range selector and the F-N-R shuttle lever). I even took the seat off to see if there was something jamming the shift linkage rod and not allowing it to move.

I have not removed the shifter from the transmission to see if I can see anything in the transmission that might be stuck.

The guys at the machine shop claim that it worked just fine when they moved it in and then out of their shop.

I've called the dealer and they have no suggestions beyond what I've already checked and tried.

Does anyone here have any experience with this, or any suggestions of what to check?

I would call the dealer back and have them consult with NC. I'm assuming the machine drives fine but can't change gears while moving or stopped.

Not sure of your location but could the linkage be frozen due to cold temps?

Curious what was wrong, or what happened that it needed work to be done on the loader bracket?
I suspect, maybe someone who knows nothing about how to operate your tractor might have been the one to have moved it outside when the welding was done? Did you drive it into the shop when it was dropped off? Have you spoken to the shop owner about this issue? If so, what does he say?

Did the weld without proper grounding?May have burned some electrical component.

I had a local welder work on my backhoe at my barn and before he did any welding I disconnected my battery ground cable, just in case....:confused3:

Sounds like someone jammed it into gear and it is jammed, it shouldn't be but it sounds like it is. As mentioned earlier it sounds like someone drove that didn't have a clue what they were doing to jam something in the transmission on a tractor wouldn't be easy and who ever did it probably knew they did it, now that is just an opinion and you know about opinions!

Makes me wonder if they couldn't figure out how to operate it, and towed it into the shop while still in gear.

Temperature is not the problem. I've had it in a heated garage since bringing it home.

I agree that someone there at the machine shop, that didn't have any idea how to drive a tractor, forced it into gear and it's bound up or somethings broken in the tranny now.

I had it to the machine shop because two bolts had sheared off in the engine block where part of the FEL frame bolts on. Whomever assembled my tractor used some kind of super heavy duty epoxy or glue compound on the bolt threads and we could not extract the broken off threaded part of the bolts, so had to use a carbide end mill to cut out the bolts, then tap the holes out oversized to 5/8-11.

Wow, I wonder if this is related to the issue Boomer632, referenced in the YouTube video???
