Walmart sells a tractor transmission-hydraulic fluid that is supposed to be equivalent to all the name brand fluids that the dealers carry. Its name is Tech something or something Tech. Has anyone tried this fluid? It runs under $30 for a five gallon bucket, which is significantly cheaper than the dealer prices.

Thanks, Vince. I punctured a suction hose on my 4110 with some brush and lost a lot of fluid. I bought a 5 gallon can from the dealer today and after putting it in the tractor I am still low on fluid. The dealer more or less told me that it was better to buy the fluid elsewhere as it would be cheaper. The dealer only handles the Agco brand, they are also a Massey dealer, and it is about twice what the Super Tech runs.

I use it in my JD 2010 all the time and haven't had any problems. Several friends use it as well with no complaints.

And I would buy now since word is that the international oil prices are just starting to hit the non-fuel markets hard. My tractor repair guy told me he paid 10 more for 5 gals a few weeks ago, all of a sudden, but that some places apparently have not gotten into the higher priced stuff yet.

Good luck,

Jim

The Super Tech was about $25-$27 at Walmart here last night for the 5 gallon size. The Agco brand that the Mahindra-Massey dealer has is about twice that.

I also bought a 5 gallon container of the combination hydraulic/transmission oil (item # 71244) from Sam's Club in my case, and the more the read the more confused I get. The container states that this oil generally, but may not exactly, conform to the performance specifications of oils such as Kubota UDT , Cat TO-2, and Case/New Holland MS 1207.

Does anyone know if the Sam's CLub/Walmart oil is safe for long term use in my Chinese Jimna 224?

On the generic UTF oils and their applications, i think you will find 2 major differences between them and OEM's they are replacing. #1 is viscosity. Walmart UTF oil lists a whole page of 'equivalent' oils it covers, and states that it meets or exceeds their working specs, but may differ in viscosity. In most cases.. this is no big deal.

Next big difference is wet brakes. I've seen some oils that specificaly denote that they are, or are not suitable for wet brakes.. etc..

I've been using walmart and TSC UTF oils in my Ford/ NH /IH ? JD antiques ( and the 2 'new' NH's ) for the past 5 years with no noticible problems.. etc... I was using it to replace the NH M2C134D spec oil.... and I do see a viscosity difference..

Does everyone using this product have manual transmissions, like shuttle shifts, or hydrostatics which are more like automatics. I have a dillema in that my Mahindra shuttle shift 2545 calls for 80/90W oil to be used in the transmission/hydraulic system. But I've read that this is too heavy a weight for hydraulics, while something lighter not so good for a manual transmission. Anyone know the viscosity of this Supertech stuff? Any comments welcomed. Getting ready for my initial 50 hour servicing.
