WHat do you think about this ideas???

Use the following pump to transfer fuel from my truck to tractor.

Tuthill Fill-Rite Gear Pump — 12 Volt, 3.5 GPM, Model# FR1602NT |Air-Operated + Electric Pumps | Northern Tool + Equipment

I figure it would take three fuel cans to fill the tractor, $100 for cans, plus the mess of having cans around.

I haul the tractor to hunting camp, would'nt have to haul cans. Stop by the fuel stop every AM for coffee, Always have fresh fuel. Build a little box to keep pump in. Use power outlet on tractor for power to the pump. Stick suction tube down the filler tube of the tank. 2001 Power stroke.

See any down sides to this???

Try to put a hose like the one you plan on using down your filler tube, most new vehicles wont allow that for siphoning reasons and the duty cycle is not long on that pump
how about a T in your fuel line?

I will only need about 13 gallons at the most. 15 gallon tank. 3.5 GPM 30 minute duty cycle. I have a hose in the shop will give it a try in the AM. If you see a guy driving around SW Minnesota with a hose hanging out of the side of the truck tommorow, that is me!!!

What does worry me is if the power port on a DX35 will handle the 10 amp load. May have to wire a quick connect.

I've use a pump very similar to that to change the oil in my boat engine.
It is now about 8 years old, it is a kit to suck the used engine oil out through the dipstick tube, using a long aluminum tube and and some rubber hose. I use it about twice a year.
Now when we had that massive blackout in the midwest and northeast a few years ago, I used that little pump to suck unleaded out of that same boat to run mine, my sister's, and my neighbor's, generators,
Then in the morning of the second day a friend pulls into my drive asking for any gas I could spare to get the generators running again on his resturant freezers. He was very happy to see me pumping it out of our boat.
That little pump got quite a workout over those 2 1/2 days pumping 50+ gallons into any gas cans we had.
Plus I ate really good for a couple of months after that.
and that same pump is still sucking the oil out of the boat twice a year.
If you get past the anti-siphon devise in your trucks filler neck, then good plan

If you go on over to JME Sales and look under their 12v pumps you will find the same pump 20% cheaper. JME also sells reconditioned service station style pumps and new pumps for well under $200 also. I am ordering a 12v full size pump from them.

You could run a bypass and use your in tank pump on the truck. I wouldn't run the pump for more than a minute. But it'll work.

on my 2000 PSD there is no anti-sphion valve just shove the hose down the filler neck

I bought a universal electronic fuel pump at the FLAPS and put inlet and outlet hoses on it plus long power wire with gator clips (later changed to cigar lighter plug.) I used it to transfer diesel. It isn't super fast but does a good job and doesn't cost much or use much electricity.

I have a buddy that picke dup an electric fuel pump at napa and put 2 pieces of fuel hose on it. he just dunked one end into his tank, and the other into his tractor.. and ran it off a cig lighter plug .. just had a 10' wire with the plug end on it he just threw in the window and plugged er in.. Not fancy.. but worked.

DO check to see if your truck has a safety filler neck.. if so, you might have to feed that hose thru a section of thin walled conduit that is sized for that safety neck.. make sure you put a wide neck ring ont he conduit if you do it that way so it don't slip into the tank whilst you feed your fuel line threw it..
