I pull with a f-250 truck. The rims on my trailer match the truck. Can I safely run ST tires on the truck?

i would run truck tires on the trailer before I'd run the trailer tires

trailer tires are only rated at 65mph.

i also would run lt tires on a trailer before an st tire on a truck (actually i do run lt tires on my GN)

No. Trailer tires are not rated for steering axles.

Thanks for helping me not Do something I could regret. The tires not being for steering I understand ,the speed rating not so much. The local thieves made off with my b.f. goodrich tires which were in the barn for the winter. Aluminum rims bring 20.00 at the scrap yard. Tires now on the rear of the truck are worn and I had two Trailers each with a spare. Thought I would save a couple of hundred. Thanks

Not only would you find they handle poorly the traction would be horrible with no siping.

I would only run trailer tires on a truck if Light Truck tires came on the trailer. I actually did this to wear down some tread on tires that would have aged out before they wore out. Haven't seen many manufacturers put LT tires on trailers lately so this is probably a rare thing.

ST tires plainly state on the sidewall: "For trailer use only." I don't know why, but being warned against it by the mfgr. I'm going to heed the warning.

Aside from the problems already listed, many ST tires seem to physically fall apart very quickly.

Truck tires (and car tires) are not only subjected to steering forces, that trailers are not, they are also subjected to acceleration forces, and speed forces. Tires rated for lower speeds like ST tires at 65 mph, can become unstable if placed under loads and driven at speeds of 75 or more for any extended period of time. Ever see the retreads of tires laying on the sides of the roads? They most likely separated because they were used in excess of their rating, in one or more fashion.
