trailer tire size?

Need some help. I just purchased a lowboy gooseneck. It needs new tire's. On the plate on the trailer it says 750x16 for the tire size. My ? is can i go to a ST235/85R16 As long as it meets the 14,000 gvwr rating of the trailer, or do i have to stick with the 750x16 to pass inspection?

As long as they fit and are weight rated same or better should be a none issue. I run 235/85/16 truck tires on all my trailers and all pass inspection.

I recently read the rules for trailers in Texas.... says tires need to be rated to hold up the gvwr of the trailer....no mention of reference to trailer plate.

Law in your state may differ.

I don't know what year the trailer is, but check that the wheels are good for tubeless tires.
