Have another thread going about "advice for 1st tractor" and have decided that a BX 2360 will suit my needs.

Next question is that I need a trailer for hauling to property. Tractor will have a 60 inch belly mower and front loader. Do I need a tandem axle trailer with brakes? I will be pulling with a Dodge cummins diesel that I use to pully my travel trailer and of course the camper has brakes, but not sure it was needed with a small tractor.

Thanks for any advice.

I would definitly go with dual axles with brakes. That combo probably goes close to 2000#, give or take.

I'll tell you this, I pulled my RTV500 on a 5x10 utility trailer with no brakes. It weighs somewhere around 1300# plus the 1100# trailer. It wasn't fun. Stayed a long way from the cars in front of me, there was now way I was going to panic stop. Never tried my BX, and I'll wait until I get a car/landscape trailer with brakes...Just my opinion.

The tractor/mower/loader combo is around 2000 lbs. In the event of an emergency (blowout) while towing a double axle trailer with brakes is the best way to go. Landscape type double axle trailers or car haulers can be had relatively cheap.

Do you need a tandem axle with brakes? No. If you are purchasing a trailer, however, that is exactly what you should buy. You'll have a margin of comfort, and the larger trailer will prove useful for many other uses. You have the tow rig to handle quite a trailer!

Just the rig I've studied on, yes I would go for the tandem trailer with brakes. I've read many threads on this subject and after having my wife read thru some she decided for me on the BX2660 with tandem axle trailer. I haven't pulled the trigger as yet and I'm still trying to get her moved up to a B series, don't know why but I just want it! if it doesn't work she is sold on the BX new with the price she can live with.

HOOAH Holla if you HEMI!

Dual axle for safety in case one tire goes out in my opinion on any trailer that's hauling anything you don't want scattered all over the highway or hitting the cars behind or beside you. That's my opinion. I've hauled a L3240 and a B3200 and a F2680E with my trailer without brakes with no problem but only for 9 careful miles each way. Gator trailers are made in Somerset and one could buy a new one with brakes for under $1500 and haul their newly purchased tractor back home on it. The money for shipping tractor could be applied to trailer purchase. The Gator trailer can be purchased cheaper off internet site than walking on to the lot to purchase.

Yes a tandem axle would be nice. Probably brakes on both axles. Do you need two axles and brakes on both? No. Is it overkill. Maybe. But it's ok to overkill in a situation like this.

We towed a BX23 w/ backhoe on a 12' single axle with no brakes, and it was fine with the 3500lb axle. But, if hauling more than once a year, definately have more trailer than that. We have that because we also have a 24 ton tandem axle deckover for the big stuff.

my dealer picks up and drops off with a 6x12 single axle steel (5000lb).
I have towed with the same trailer using chain binders, haven't had a care.
I've towed with the neighbor's 6x12 aluminum (3500lb axle). that made me very nervous towing, too much flex even with chains. Luckily I was only towing to my father's house 12 non-highway miles. I'm looking at getting a 6x12 single axle (felling FT3) 5000lb axle for towing and other needs.

This topic has been discussed at great length. Nothing wrong with discussing it more, however, there is a wealth of info in the archives: hundreds, perhaps even thousands of posts. Go to the main search page. Enter the terms "BX" and "trailer". Select both Kubota forums as well as the "Trailering and Transportation" forum. Do not set any date restrictions. Search in Topics only. You will find everything you need.

I would go at least 16' long. i have a 12' tandem and the tractor with a back blade hangs over the end. I have a BX 2350. 16' puts everything on the trailer or gives room for extra attatchments.
