I was looking around for a simple trailer mover to speed up moving trailers around for mowing. The ones on TSC seemed to be about $200 and up at other vendors. Since I'm not hauling 5th wheels, goosenecks or anything substantial, I decided to make one. I was going back and forth between FEL/fork mounted or rear-mounted, but I had the parts to make a rear-mounted unit so that was the answer.

I already had these parts for other purposes:
  • Cross Drawbar -- TSC $35
  • Quick Attach Bushings - TSC$30
  • Receiver Hitch -- HF $15
  • 3"x3" x 1/4 angle
  • 1 1/8 Solid Roundbar
  • 6011/7018 Rod
I made it removable with two 1/2" bolts to the cross drawbar so it can come off if I ever just need the bar back or decide to make any other attachment that needs the bar. Pins of some sort would be even easier. It still needs a coat of paint and a place for chains, but it worked great to be able to not have to jack things up and down. Visibility and ease of hooking things up was a no-brainer. I wish more implements would be based on a foundational implement (like a cross drawbar) when they don't require tons of strength instead of every one needing to be their own 3 point clevis attachment. Seems it would be easy to sell these for a fraction of what it costs for a stand alone unit.

How is it working for you? I added a 2” receiver to the back of my box blade. Works good for light or unloaded trailers, but I tried pulling my camper out of the shop with no front end loader on and almost went for a bad ride. It’s slightly down hill and the front tires stayed about 18” off the ground as soon as I pulled out. Scary. Thank God for the cutting brakes to steer.
I am planning a similar project very soon.

Moved a snowmobile trailer loaded, 6x12 unloaded utility trailer and a 4x5'ish trailer for going out in the woods. It moved all of them with ease. This was with the MX5200, loaded tires, and FEL on. My place is flat with no hills of significance. The only bad thing is that two trailers are a 2" ball and the small trailer for the woods requires me to take the ball out (clevis style hitch). I guess you are still on and off the tractor so it isn't a huge deal to swap things around a bit. I may make a 2" ball and no-ball end hitch so I can just pull the pin and rotate without unbolting the ball.

My trailer toter is a bit different build then yours;

the chains are to stop excessive lift from the hitch while loading or unloading which could cause the front of the trailer to lift,
or when traveling down hill lift does occur at times.

Here's my front mount ATV small trailer mover able to move a a two place sled trailer with two snowmobiles, a 12' single axle utility trailer easy. Made it with scrap junk its simple to put on and take off much easier than using the rear hitch pulling with smaller stuff imo.
