I hope this does not stir up controversy like my "Welded some hooks on my FEL" post did. Which, by the way, are working just fine...
I made a trailer hitch from angle iron for my BX 2200. Here is a photo.

Great Job!

Very nice job on that hitch. It's the most "elegant" one I've seen yet! (And it can double as a really big "slow moving vehicle" alert sign, too...<G>)

Excellent job! Is it easy enough for a "newbe" welder? How big (expensive) of a welder would I need? Not looking to invest alot of bucks for a welder I'll use sparingly...

Maybe you won't get "crucified" for that project /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Just don't install any 'hooks' on the hitch! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Looks great, neat and strong.
Hard to beat a combo like that.
Keep up the good work!

JeepOne, thanks.
I am not a veteran welder by an means, this is my second project since 1984.
The welder I use is a 1961 Miller I found in my local paper for $75. It is an arc welder (AC only).
She is very old but will produce some good looking beads. Here is a photo of the welder.

I like it! There you go, the official engineering seal of approval./w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

I've got a drawbar that I mounted a ball to. it only attaches to the lift arms. Trouble is it rotates a bit when you move the three point. Even with a "stabilizer" on it. Maybe someday I'll put a bracket on it to make it a three point attachment instead of two.

Here's a safety tip. Since the three point hitch doesn't have downforce, if you tow downhill, the trailer can push the hitch up. changing the CG etc. Something to keep your eye on.

If yours is moving around on you due to a steep grade or a heavy trailer, you may want to rig a check chain from the towbar up to the trailer hitch. If you make it slightly longer than the max hieght that you need, you can leave it attached all the time & it won't hamper the back up, lift & go convenience of the three point hitch trailer ball.

You may or may not want the check chain depending on the topography of your land & the size of the trailer. I don't use one with my 2,000# boat trailer, as it is fairly flat where i move it around.

Again, nice work! Glad to see all our constructive comments didn't keep you from posting pics of your latest project.

PS glad to see you're adding the monster hook to the FEL!
