Kubota L3800HST
Ok, so I'm back to work these days and have decided that at age 50 I don't care for doing FEL/boxblade work or mowing with a non-synchro shuttle trans and trans driven PTO.

I'm looking to get a machine in the same weight and HP range, with a live PTO and HST, that will also handle my BH80-X backhoe.

I talked to my local Kubota dealer (a good man and dealership) about trading my L2800DT/gear and LA463 loader (300 hours) for a new L3800 and loader. His offer is $10,500 plus my trade.

Thoughts? Opinions? Other model suggestions?

I guess it depends how bad you really want the HST. I am not familiar with the model, but is that a Kubota brand backhoe, or is it a woods or something that will work on another model??

His price is probabally pretty close though. You tractor is probabally worht ~ 11-12k if I had to guess. And a new L3800HST is probabally in the 19k range. PLUS you have to pay taxes on it. It aint pretty but thats the way it is. Trading up a few years down the road never works out good on the pocket-book for the trader.

I ask about the BH because if you arent limited to just kubota, Kioti would be a good choice to save a few bucks. You can also try to sell yours outright for more than the trade offer, and if/when you sell it, use that as down pymt on the new one.

Take this for what it is worth, but If I were you, I would go check out the Kioti CK35 or CK30. They are in the class of of the L3800HST you are looking at. They have a lot more features for the money, and they are less money to start with.. Your Woods hoe will work fine,.. You will be out the price of the frame mount kit of course.. But I bet in the end you will be money ahead, and more features ahead...Providing you have a good Kioti dealer nearby of course.
At least it is worth a look, and a checkout.

Spoke to the Kioti dealer near me the other day; says the DK35 is no longer produced. On the other hand, he didn't have anything on his lot in the size range I want either, except a DS4110 (HS?). Sounds like a great machine, but I don't think I want shuttle, hydraulic or otherwise.
There is a Kioti dealer out Lebanon way, and of course, Wallace Equipment. They are both 1 to 1-1/2 hours away though.
There is a Mahindra dealer 1/2 hour away, in Quakertown, whom I know nothing about. I have seen a fair number of machines on his lot; I guess I should look there, too.
Perhaps a Mahindra 3016?

The BH80-X is a Woods unit. Pretty nice, but it's no Kubota BH92.

Why don't you do yourself a favor and buy a feature tractor - yes, more money, but if you are really looking for a more comfortable tractor, it's the way to go. Check out the Kubota Grand L's (3540) Kioti DK's (DK40 or DK45) Deere 3x20's...

Yes the DK35 like I have is an obsolete model, but I was refering to the CK35HST which is still in production. It is comparable to the L3800HST. My DK35 is closer to a GrandL Kubota. The CK has standard SSQA on the front bucket, this is extra on the Kubota, It has telescoping lower links and stabilizers standard. This is not orderable on the Kubota, but you can buy parts to fit it from Grand L's. It has standard cruise control, I think this is extra now on L3800, it was standard on L3400. The Kioti has tilt steering wheel, and a Mat for the Floorboards, not available on the Kubota. Of course all of that added up might not amount to a hill of beans in your operation. I think the SSQA and the telescoping lower links and stabilizers are important. At least to me. Good luck in what ever you choose.

I had not considered the CK series.
Finish mowing is in the "to do" list, so cruise would be nice. I'll go to the site and look at the other specs.
I test rode a DK35 HST 5 years ago and it was impressive; I wonder why it was discontinued?

From what I understand. It was discontinued because it didn't pass the new emissions regs.
Sorry to see it go. I always liked the DK 35

The CK30HST has a good spec sheet and standard equipment list. I don't know why I didn't consider this before. Will have to take a ride and go see one. Perhaps a call to Wallace Equipment is in order.
