Kubota M7040
What difference can I expect to pay I have an M6800 with 215 hrs 4wd, with 3rd valve on loader, canopy, toothbar on bucket, tractor is in excellent shape. I just want an M7040 with a cab, air ride, hydraulic shuttle, and loader. How much difference should I expect?

Inseeme: I don't have access to actual prices, but you're really going to take a hit 1st on the depreciation of the 6800 (although nearly new), then add the cab etc to the basically same size/hp as 6800 with the 7040. My guess is at least 12 K (if not more) over your current investment. I'd weigh the gains and losses before switching to this set up just for the comfort of the cab. The 7040 is a dream (w/hyd. shuttle) and I have 170 hours on mine. I entertained the idea of upgrading to the 8540 (a 3K sticker difference) until the dealer told me I'd be adding around 11K to my existing note. If you have to do it, you may consider the 8540 set up to justify the great expense in the transaction. IMHO. bb:

That is a lot of $$ for almost the same tractor. The M6800 is a great tractor still.

I know it will be a significant difference, but I am 30 years old have a great job, and I can swing it now, and hopefully this tractor will last me the rest of my life. Big Bubba, does the hydraulic shuttle work smoothly and did you get the air ride seat? Do you have any posts with pictures of your setup?

yes the hyd shuttle works like a charm and I'm told that it outlives the dry clutch by a long shot. go for it. I have the open deck and the air ride may only be avail on the cab model. But you're exactly half my age, you're tough! and can handle it. but may be a good resale feature. don't forget to look at the 8540 also, I'd go with that if I could do it again. By the way, some of the hyd shuttles needed adjusting from f to r, keep an eye on it's ability to make a smooth transition. mine did not fully engage till the dealer made an adjustment. good luck bb

The M-6800 is the best tractor that Kubota has ever made. You will be sorry for trading it a few years down the road. Make the additions to what you have .
