Kubota BX2230
Three years ago I bought a BX 2230 with loader and 60" mid-mount mower. I absolutely love this machine, but have found I could really use a backhoe, whihc of course, is not available for the 2230. I only have 180 hours on the machine and it is in very good condition.

I have talked to a local (Virginia) dealer about trading my BX 2230 with the loader for a new BX24 with a loader and backhoe. I would then simply transfer the mid-mount to the new machine.

Does anyone have any idea what a good price would be for doing that?

Thanks in advance.

You might want to check more carefully before you assume that you can use your existing mmm. I had a BX22, and was going to buy a mmm for it, and then move up to the newer BX series when they had some bugs worked out. I was told that Kubota changed the wheelbase between the BX22 series, and the BX50 series, and that the mmm was different. Now a dealer told me that, and I never verified it, but it's worth checking. That, and having the four way valve come off with the loader eventually led me to sell my BX22 outright. Now I'm looking for a replacement tractor, and will buy all the implements to fit that. Sometimes I'm sorry that I ever sold the BX I had!

Others here have installed the Woods BH6000 hoe on their BX2230 tractors, and have had good results with that upgrade. Just something else to confuse the issue.

Thanks for the heads up. The dealer that I bought the original tractor from assures me that the MMM can be moved to the BX24- he's actually the one that suggested it. However, I didn't realize the Woods backhoe might be an option so that's worth considering as well.

Thanks for the link, Chuck.

I guess I should have mentioned the dealer's current offer is $8,500 difference. He takes my used tractor with loader - I get the new BX24 with the loader and backhoe.

A quick check makes it look like the Woods backhoe is approximately $5,000, so I guess my questions is it worth the $3,500 for the new tractor.

The price struck me as a little high, but I am VERY inexperienced in this area so I was looking for opinions from the experts and all are certainly appreciated.

Thanks, again.

A search on your model at tractorhouse.com shows a dozen, or so BX2230 tractors for sale running from $8500 -$10,900. That should give you an idea what yours is worth private sale. Maybe you could look over the offerings there, and get a better idea how yours compares.

IMO ...... if you are just getting another BX, and not going up or down a size.... i'd give serious thought to the Woods BH6000. It s a nice little hoe, and with so few hours on your machine, it would be a win - win situation. With the savings...... treat yourself to a new thumb, and a new boxblade or something.

Chip,

Your old MMM will not work with the new BX24. I did the same thing you want to do (go from BX2230 to the BX24) 2 years ago and am very happy.

My 2230 still had 18 months of warranty and the BX24 was the first one received by my dealer so I got a great deal on trade. Many here put the Woods hoe on their machine and have had great results. Only you can decide what deal is best for you. I don't think you can go wrong either way as far as performance for this size machine goes.............Good luck.
