I have a TC33D that I purchased new in '02. I bought it mainly for mowing. Last year I purchased a zero turn mower. I want to do some heavier farming and would like to move up to a larger tractor. I have a 12" plow and 6' disc that I want to be able to pull. Right now the TC33D has to work very hard to pull either of these. I have the opportunity to trade up to a TC35D. Both tractors have loaders, R4's, and just over 500 hrs. My TC33D has the New Holland belly mower. Condition of tractors are very similar as well. The TC35D is 2 yrs newer.

My questions are: 1: What is a fair price to pay for the TC35D plus my tractor? 2: Is the TC35D a big enough move up to entice a trade?

I have not yet had a chance to test the TC35D. It a good drive from here but I have seen the tractor.

And suggestions appreciated.

I would think it might be underpowered. It has only a couple of horsepower more than yours and has to provide power for a larger frame, hydraulics. I would think I would step to the 4 cylinder class III tractors. TC45 seems like most owners are satisfied with power.

You won't gain enough HP to make any kind of trade for a 35D worthwhile. You need either at least 7-10 more HP or switch to a more efficient gear transmission if you are doing a lot of heavy tillage.

You mentioned plowing and a loader. You also mentioned R4 tires. The TC35D is heavier than the TC33D and will give you more traction with the R4s. How much land do you want to plow and disc? If it is more than a couple of acres and that will be the primary use of the tractor, I'd look for a gear tractor with R1 ag tires instead of R4s. If youi are going to do primarily loader work, the TC35D has the dual speed hydro that gives it an advantage over the 33D for loader work. The operator layout is also better in my opinion. Whether you will gain what you need is questionable. You need to try the tractor and see if it performs as expected.

A gear tractor with Ag tires and a loader might just fit your needs better. It's hard to say from the details in your post.

I'll be plowing and discing about 5 acres on a 57 acre farm. Mostly hills. The loader will probably be used 50% of the time so R4's and hydro is prefered. The small amount of HP upgrade does concern me. With the gain in size of tractor am I really gaining anything at all? I know there is higher loader and 3-pt hitch limits but I really need more pull and push. If the TC33D had a little more umph to it I wouldn't consider trading. Loader and 3-pt lifting limits are never a problem for me. I really like ths TC33D. I just want more power but I guess don't we all.

Thanks for the input. This is the kind of opinions I wanted to read.
