Hello tractor people

I have a 2009 Kubota mx5100 and I am wanting to trade my ag tires for turf tires. What models of the kubota tractor will cross over and are there any other brands that will fit my 5100? Also is there any place to buy tires and wheels cheaper than the Kubota dealership?

thanks, Bob

From what the local dealer told me you can get new tire and wheel assemblies for less than just tires from the Kubota warehouse in many cases. Even if they were a little more, you'd not have to pay for dismount and mount.

I have to agree with LB. Why? You could not give me a tractor with Turfs unless I owned and maintained a golf course.

If you do have a need for turfs keep your R1's. You will want them back on sooner or later.

Well I assumed his tractor came with R1s (used?) and he wants to cut grass with it but yea, why?

I have turfs on mine and except when I'm doing ground engagement work (plowing) they work very well. In fact they are better in the snow and on ice than ag tires and where I live that seems like about 1/2 the year.

I use the tractor primarily for residential yard work.

Even on this forum, I have seen turfs do some amazing things. In my mind, loaded turfs and a set of chains may be the handiest, most versatile, all around tractive combination a utility tractor owner may have. As far as bringing turfs into the forest, chains protect a tire pretty well even on sidewalls and if it were a concern beyond that, they make different ply turfs to help strengthen them.

WHY in deed ??? Unless your property is level or very near to level ..That is the only reason I could see to change..

As I said before I use this tractor to make a living and work primarily in residential yards. I called my Kubota dealer today and he told me turf tires and wheels would cost me 2500.00. The problem is he said it would make the tractor over 100 inches wide which would make it untrailerable. So would anyone like to trade ag tires for industrial tires : ). Why does no one seem interested in answering my original question?
