considering a used tractor.

i see from tractorhouse and other sites they often provide a contact for shipping a tractor.

has anyone or can anyone, confirm if it's possible to coordinate shipping to my local dealer from another dealer that has a used unit advertised on tractorhouse dot com.

thanks

It is definitely possible just requires some coordinating. Might want to ask the seller if there is a shipper that they typically use. I have use Fr8star, a dealers recommended shipping company and currently have a shipment on Uship. The easiest by far was with the shipper the seller typically used. None of them were bad its just the shipper one did all the paperwork and coordinating with the driver. All I had to do was pay.

Just out of curiosity why you want it delivered to local dealership instead of personal residence?

i dont necessarily want it shipped to a local dealer.
my thinkin was to go to local dealer and say--- hey, i want to make a deal in xxxx Michigan, or Vermont or ...... can you arrange paperwork and shipping on my end. ???

don't know, never shipped a tractor, thought maybe going through a dealer could simplify things

Not sure if a dealer is going to be too thrilled about you doing business with another dealer unless it was a branch store of the same company. If they do I am sure they will probably want some type of commission for doing all the legwork.

I've purchased a baler, tractor and commercial mower from T-house and it's really pretty simple for the most part. Call the dealer get as much info as you can. Almost everyone I have talked to once they found I was serious about purchasing was very accommodating. If a pic is worth a thousand words then video chatting and actually seeing the equipment cold started, walk around inspection etc. is worth 10,000 words. Once you decide you send an offer. If you do your homework you can usually negotiate prices. If it has been posted for some time or there are a lot of similar models being listed on the site you typically have some negotiating room. Also if you buy out of state you generally can avoid sales tax even if you are not ag-exempt.

If you decide to buy; they send an invoice and you typically send a cashiers check or your lender will send it to them. Then it's time to coordinate the shipper. You can post for (tentative) bids to see how much it would cost but from my experience shippers generally won't bid on loads unless they are paid and ready for pickup. I have had shipments from Maryland, Oklahoma and Ohio to Michigan and all have generally come in at about the 1.25-1.60 per mile with loads around 2500#. Every load has come in by a hot shot trucker because I don't have a loading dock but every one I have dealt with has been great to work with. If you have flexibility in pickup and delivery dates you can get some really good deals on shipping from guys trying to fill their trailers.

Thanks for all the info. Appreciate it.

My dealer has looked at not only his other stores but area wide for used models for me before. Now we never talked about him actually reaching out to another dealer, so very possible he'd balk at that, but in general conversation he seemed like he wouldn't mind helping me find what I wanted.

you know car/pickup dealerships reach out across the country for certain models, never tried it with tractors.

All said, after reading your info, it sounds like an easy enough process, and that a local dealer would never need to get involved, or using one would be of no benefit to me.
