Tractor
Massey Ferguson
I was ploughing with my small vaaljapie then it suddenly stopped , tried to start it but no avail, it can't even crank, what could be the problem? Battery is working fine and there is enough fuel

How do you know that the battery is working fine?

Are the dash lights coming on when you turn the key?

I ask because a bad battery would be the first thing I would suspect/check

If the battery is good, check for loose wires/cables, or maybe for a blown fuse.

I have tested the battery on my vehicle it's working fine and there are no loose cable, the only thing remaining are fuses, does a vaaljapie have any fuse somewhere , if you can assist so that i try to locate

Check/clean/tighten all four(4) battery cable connections. Is plow power supply disengaged?

I had to look up Vaaljapie, it's a Ferguson clone and seems a nice one at that. How long have you had her?

If you can jump start it then you could have a cable that rotted inside that
you can't see. Your cables can be tight but you should remove them as
you can get a build up on the connections open circuit

This is what I found:
“The first Ferguson TE20 tractor, affectionately known as the 'Vaaljapie' in South Africa, rolled off the assembly line in Coventry in the UK on 6 July 1946.”

So it’s a gasoline tractor and likely a simple mechanical motor.

I'm assuming the stopped engine and the not starting is related.

The first thing to do is to verify the engine is not seized. So, with the tractor in neutral, see if the fan will rotate the crank just a little. Or you could try with a hand crank if your tractor has the hand crank.

That era, you could have a few variations, positive ground, negative ground, 6V, or 12V. Nonetheless, the circuits should be similar. Most will have a starter solenoid, but some will have a mechanical switch on the starter.

Battery --> Engine/chassis (ground cable).
Battery --> Starter Solenoid --> Smaller wire back to ignition switch.
Ignition Switch --> Back to small connector on starter.
Ignition Switch --> Coil.

It should be rather easy to hotwire the thing.

Here is a basic starter that I posted in a different thread.

If you jump from the big battery wire on the starter solenoid to the small connector on the solenoid (screwdriver works well), the tractor engine should crank over.

Since it presumably is a gas engine, it may or may not actually start.

An electrical tester should help with diagnostics some. Ignition switch at operate, the coil should get power, and the starter solenoid (ignition connection) should not get power from ignition.

Ignition switch to start, and both the coil should get power, as well as the ignition to starter solenoid.

The coil has 2 connectors. One from the battery to the coil, and one from the coil to the distributor.

Anyway, that gives you a couple of circuits to start to verify.
