It grunted, it huffed and it puffed... AND THEN... it pulled that BIG tri-axle dump truck unstuck.

We have water leaking at the end of our septic tank lines where the ground is rather shallow over the of one of the field lines. We decided to have our septic tank pumped after 5 years and to have a large load of topsoil brought in to build up the ground around the shallow area. It's kinda on a slope and with all the rain we have had over the last 2 months the ground is very saturated and boggy. Sho-nuff when the guy got there on the dump truck he backed up and then couldn't get the load dumped for feared of the truck flipping over with the dump up so high and on the slope. He had it about half loaded with around 18 yards of topsoil. He got it about half way up and the left side tires started coming off the ground...

yawzers... he quickly let the dump back down. WHEW! It was scary!

Anyway... he decides the best thing to do is pull back up to level ground and dump it there and I could move it with my FEL later. Okay... he is bogged down and stuck... truck won't budge... just spins in place and sinks further. Now he suggest I get my tractor and pull him out. I'm saying NO WAY my tractor is going to pull that BIG HUGE TRUCK even an inch. My dad was sittin' on his golf cart laughin'... agreed that the tractor wasn't gonna help and that we were going to need to call a big tow truck and maybe winch him out. Guy says can't we at least try the tractor because a tow truck is gonna cost $150-200 to come this far out. So, we hook a heavy duty chain up to the front of the truck and the tow-pin on the tractor... put it in 4WD and lock the differential, put it in L1 and ooooooommmmmpppphhhhhhh....

eased 'er right on out without spinning the first tire on the tractor. Truly amazing and I'm still not sure how it did it.

A true story! Happened right here at my house TODAY! I never even began to imagine my tractor would be able to even budge that truck, but it did. There are some seriously deep ruts in our yard where he got stuck... my wife was "oh my, what in the world happened".

He finally got the load dumped and my dad was sittin' in his golf cart with his jaw on the ground. Fella got out of the truck and says... "pretty impressive tractor you got there."

I got to thinkin' later... folks may not believe this story daddy, we should have taken pictures or video taped it. Would have made for a great Mahindra commercial.

SonnieP, Glad you were able to get the truck out! Just reading your post it sounds like you pulled it out in reverse? Might want to read this thread :

Oh no... he hooked the chain to the front of his truck and I hooked the other end to (I said above the hitch pin) but actually it was the rear metal part that holds the hitch pin... at the lower part of the tractor. I just wrapped it around the two metal bars that hold the hitch pin. I guess it's called the hitch pin... I may not be calling it the right thing. It looked like the most solid place to hook it anyway.

Good to hear. I read that other thread about pulling things out in reverse and damaging the front 4wd assembly and that scared the crap out of me. I probably misunderstood your post. I'm pretty good at that /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

Glad to hear you are having so much fun with the 6500! I told you that you wouldn't regret it! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Get the camera ready... I'm hooking my tractor up to two of those big trees in the Chevy commercial... if that Chevy truck can move it through the ground then I bet my 6500 can move a couple of them. hee hee

After telling a friend of mine who owns several pieces of heavy equipment and a few dump trucks... he tells me that usually all these dump trucks need when they get stuck is a little help, which he says is what my tractor was providing. Gee... I don't know, with the rear tires half way in the ground? I'd say it was more than just a "little" help.
