Kubota 2650
Hi folks gravelman here...i have a Kubota 2650.. there is the safety switch under the seat that shuts down engine when you take pressure off the seat. It is driving me crazy. I have attempted to find ways of keeping pressure on the switch with no luck. Obviously when you are working the machine hard and someone stops to talk to you and you get out...not good to have the engine immediately shut down. I have been back to the dealer , you name it, no luck Anyone out there familiar with this issue??

Remove the switch from the seat and use tape to hold it in the activated position. I realize your machine is a diesel, but most spark ignition equipment uses a N.C. switch. Sitting on the seat OPENS the switch and getting off the seat CLOSES the switch, grounding out the ignition system.

Locate your seat switch and see what position the switch has to be in when someone is on the seat. Remove the switch, affix it in the activated position and zip tie the harness out of harms way. If you decide to sell the tractor you can easily put it back to the factory condition.

Ok this sounds like the way to solve the problem..i can hear clicking under the tractor when i put pressure on the seat...the switch im looking for should be part of the seat im guessing or should i aim for where that clicking is coming from?? I do know they make it difficult to override any of that stuff..i get that.

Yes- a part of the seat. Flip the seat forward or look under the seat cushion. You should see wires going into the seat. Some of the new stuff requires the switch to “reset” each start. So I’d remove it and do some testing before I made a permanent mod to the switch.

Btw- that would drive me crazy too! I have to be seated to start mine. But after that it doesn’t kill the machine.

ok i did look under the seat and im a bit reluctant to start messing with it...it is not just an easy disconnect or connect like some are... they make it a bit complicated...for good reason, i can't argue that. thanks for this..will investigate more and report back

There must be a plug to "connect" seat to tractor harness, got pictures of any connector... MyMF GC 1715 just has simple switch that one can defeat pretty easily.... Also If I am in "neutral" I can get off and tractor still stays running, seat switch only kills motor if HSD is in gear...

Now that is an excellent point i may be overlooking...im having trouble starting tractor UNTIL i get the hydro pedal in the right spot...this may be my problem It has suddenly become very picky on where the peddle needs to be for starting...thus it may still be somewhat activated when i get off the seat !!!!!!!!! does that make sense???

You can pull the cushion out of the seat. It is held in by velcro. The switch is embedded in the foam of the bottom cushion. The disconnect with the engine should only happen if you have one of the PTO's running and you remove pressure from the seat. Mine however will occasionally disconnect for no reason, killing the engine. Without moving or shifting my weight it will restart as soon as I twist the key. This used to happen at least once or twice every time I used my tractor, but it hasn't happened lately. I hope it has outgrown this idiosyncrasy. The hydro pedal is another safety gotcha. Make sure you keep the pivot greased, but don't over lube it. It should return to center by itself, if not you need to inspect it to find out what is wrong.

Good Luck, Joe

It sounds like your HST pedals need adjusting (or lubricating). They're not returning exactly to neutral and the safety switch on the HST sees that.
