The local paper showed a helicopter in the field to pick him up, I bet that 60 mile ride costs more than a new tractor.

We all do dumb things. It's doesn't say whether the ROPS was in place or not. Prayers for his full recovery.

Those are plants that grow in wet areas. ROPS might be stuck in the mud.

^ Maybe if folded in half (which doesn't protect you, of course) but there's no way a fully upright ROPS would just push all the way underground like that, IMO.

Good call randy, didn't think to search more local news sources. Wonder what he was doing driving right on the edge of that drainage ditch. Obviously his backyard, probably done it 100 times.

Is that a Kubota or a Kioti? Kinda looks like a Kioti to me. Yes there are soooo many good reasons to get rid of that ROPS, right up to split second when you start having regrets about doing that. Yes a ROPS is just a useless chunk of steel and always in the way, right up to that point where you need it. And that poor fellow needed it rather badly.
