You are looking at some good tractors. But I have to agree with Rudy. Both the 25 and 10 series are really nice machines. I'm a few months away from actually purchasing one myself, got to finish paying for another toy first, but you can bet that I'll be making an offer I deem reasonable when that time comes.
I would guess it is much like car shopping. If the item is a hot seller, they'll hold high. If it is a slow mover, they'll talk to you.
For example, when I first started looking around, I talked to one dealer who had a 3325 on his lot. He told me that the price was just under $9,000, which I had already discovered was about average for my area. I thanked him for his time, and after looking over his inventory I went on my way. The next week he surprised me by leaving a message on my answering machine. He was willing to knock several hundred off the price he had originally quoted me. Unfortunately, I was not in the immediate market for the purchase.
I've since visited him and thanked him for his generous offer. He is a really nice guy.
As long as the dealer knows that you are serious, they will work with you to earn your business. I've found this to be true in everything I've purchased, cars, boats, etc.
Determine what is reasonable for your area on the tractor you want and make an offer. It can't hurt, and there is no reason for anyone to be offended by your offer as long as it is reasonable and you are polite.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
