I have a 2005 tractor I bought new in April. It has 150 hours on it. Since my purchase it has been to the shop for, loose tie rod end, broken tie rod, oil pan leaking, 2 clutch jobs. My dealer is the greatest guy and does everything he can to make it right but this is getting old. I am woried about down the road when my warranty goes out. Is there anything I can do at this point or do I just keep taking it in for repairs? I am not posting the brand as I am not wanting to bash anything and I do not think it is releveant to my question.

Not that I'm aware of. It's nice of you to be PC. I'm not PC at all, and openly bashed my own brand of tractor many times in hope that someone from the factory would get sick of seeing me doing so and fix my tractor to shut me up. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Fortunately for me, I believe today marked the first time that my issues have been fixed. In my case, I've really only had two issues, but they never were fixed. Once the manufacturer finally replaced the bad items, all seems fine and I think I'll be happy.

If you have numerous items, you may want to just unload the thing before it runs out of warranty. Sorry, but I'm not a big believer in staying a die hard loyal customer of a brand if I'm not taken care of and I don't have faith in the brand. If it's not my ship, I'll certainly not be the last on board going down with the ship. Life is too short for that. I'll let someone else worry about that. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. No lemon laws - that is not good. My previous tractor was a 1960s model and I had it nearly two years with no major problems. This current tractor seems to be always breaking down. It is dissapointing because this is the first "new" major purchase I have ever made.

What you will need to look into is the Magnus Moss warranty act. It has been used many, many times for unusable farm equipment.

Actually telling us the brand and model could help. Many TBNers may have already had problems and fixes to your tractor.

If a tractor is susceptible to breaking down it is relevant to everyone here.

Jerry are you sure about this? I know you usually never post anything you don't know about but I thought this act only applies to using aftermarket filters, oils, etc. I was not aware that it applied to tractors. I also do not think that it applies to the lemon law but I could be totally wrong. In all the states taht I know the lemon is only applicable to private vehicles. It does not extend to commercial or agricultural applications. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I'm sorry, maybe I missed it but are you still having problems or are you more worried about future problems since you have had so many?

If it is repaired and you are just worried (rightfully so) then there is not going to be much anybody can do to help. No manufacturer is going to replace a tractor for fear that it may have another problem. Your only choices would be trade for another one or live with it.

If it is still having problems that are similar and the dealer is willing to help have them put some pressure on the manufacturer to fix it. Sometimes if you have a lawyer write a letter and let the dealer know what you are doing it may give them a little leverage with the manufacturer to step up to the plate so they don't have to fight this in court.

Good Luck

Oh, I forgot to add. It wouldn't be bashing a brand to state what it is and exactly what your having for problems.

There is a ton of knowledge on here that may be able to help or at least put your mind at ease about the issues your having.

There are at least six states that cover tractors under their lemon laws. Which six? I haven't been able to find that out.
Check with a lawyer in your state.

Yes. The part of the Magnus Moss warranty act that is most used in reguard to farm is the part about:
The term "written warranty" means--
(A) any written affirmation of fact or written promise made in connection with the sale of a consumer product by a supplier to a buyer which relates to the nature of the material or workmanship and affirms or promises that such material or workmanship is defect free or will meet a specified level of performance over a specified period of time.
(specifically the part about level of performance)
