tractor king...foton or perkins????

Hi, I am seriously tempted to buy a 40 hp "tractor king" from rural king. Anyone with any info on the motor would be appreceated .....i.e. who makes the motor.....it looks like it is 27hp @ pto.....is that normal to drop from 40 @ the motor to 27 @pto? as you can tell i am new at this but i am going cross eyed trying to do all this research online.

Rural king are rebranded Foton tractors.

Last time I looked into it, the perkins engine was available on the 500 series and up.

If you want to look for information on these tractors, reviews, etc... the equivelent model series for foton is FT.

An FT404 is the 40hp series.

No, it's not. In a geared tractor (as opposed to hydrostat) I'd expect 40 engine hp to deliver ~34 to 35 hp to the PTO. Where'd you get your numbers?

The Tractor King 40 HP (engine horse power) is rated at 27.2 KW at the PTO, that is 36.47 HP (you multiply KW number by 1.341 to get rating in HP). I believe that you can get the specs from Farm Pro, their verision is FT 404, same tractor, better warrenty, lot higher price. Good luck.

got my pto numbers from rural king spec sheet......but have learned that they must not have specified (kw) makes more sense after doing the math......
