If I adapt a truck snowplow for use on my tractor do I need to flush the rams before hooking it up to the remotes on the tractor? I know that the rams currently have a low temp snow plow hydraulic oil in them.

Thanks

I would and I did. Water, dirt, salt residue, and maybe even wrong type of oil. I also suggest you use automotive brake hoses to 'wire' it up because the rams are not used to seeing 2500 psi at a high flow rate. Brake hoses will slow it down a bit.

Thanks for the input, do you think a crossover valve would be a good idea too?

Plow control valves have built in cushion (cross over relief) valves in case you hit a curb or something unmovable. A cushion valve would be recommended in between the rams and tractor control valve. Cushion valves are usually set at 3000psi to divert flow to the opposing ram when needed.
KennyD sells them online ( Hydraulic Valves - BoltOnHooks LLC )

Edit: I see above you were thinking of same
