Evening folks, I cut this tubing many years ago for another tractor but finally got around to building it out. It was all made with scrap pieces.

The bumper/box is 4X6 tube. I welded ends on then cut lengthwise. After the top was off I welded a drip edge on and added the grill guard. bumper.jpg

I used Jeep hood type latches and put the hinge in front so when something hits the grill it pushes it closed.bumper2.jpg

The storage part. My rollbar is filled with chain I can't get out. Nice to have a place for some chain and a few tools.bumper3.jpg

That makes a nice rugged water proof box for your chains and a novel idea  That bent tubing grill looks pretty slick too.

That’s unique and useful. Might have done two lids and solid center. Could open when loader is down also. Maybe having the guard fold forward gives you needed engine access? Looks good and adds good protection. Careful working under loader without a brace.

This just begs the question; How did it get there and why? :confused3:

Nice tool box though. ;)

GMTA. Methinks I'd find a way to remove the roll bar and get the chain out, but that's just me. Maybe it won't hurt anything in there, but it sure as heck ain't gonna help anything in there.

But HOW is the first question. If my grandkids were involved, I'd have some kinda story about how an eagle flew by, thinking my chain was a snake, grabbed it, then decided it taste good, so he dropped the chain, and it just magically went inside the roll bar. And of course, it would be a bald eagle, you know the kind with no hair on their head (buzzard). You should hear the embellishments when they realize they're caught and trying to dig their way out. I really should write a book about childhood prevarications and kinards. Some outrageous and bewildering how the mind of a child works, others would leave you in stitches.

I used to store a section of chain in the folded bar hooked on the edge of the bar but bouncing made it come loose and more bouncing settled it into the bar. I ran a hooked piece of .25 round bar down there and was able to hook the chain, but it won't come out. I almost couldn't get the hooked rod out it's stuck so bad.

Gordon, I lucked into that bent square tube. It was a weight rack at an athletic complex they were throwing out.

Yea, chain will do that in a confined space. If you have a way to vibrate the tube while "fishing", it may come loose. Like one of those muscle massagers.

I would hook something onto the chain like a piece of rope then flip the roll bar up and drive around for a while.
That should vibrate it around and gravity should help pull the chain out.
