Tractor from Brazil

I have a neighbor with a tractor from Brazil. The brand is something like... Compania Brazilia Tractoria or something at least remotely resembling that, meaning Tractor Company of Brazil. I may have the order wrong, I don't do Portugese very well.

It has a nice Perkins diesel engine but the tranny is on the fritz as is the hydraulics to the 3PH. They think the company is out of business and have no clue as to how to find out if there is any remote chance of getting parts.

I had a couple thoughts: 1. It was likely that if anyone stateside knew about these things or would have a good lead they might be on TBN, and 2. If a second disabled tractor of this type (crippled in other places) could be located, it is likely that a whole running tractor could be assembled.

Any leads would be appreciated as I would love to help them out. They are very fine folks, just not in a position to buy another good tractor.

Ahh yes the old CBTs(Companhia Brasileira de Tratores) I was wodering if there were still any of those in use. I do believe they were sold out of somewhere in Colorado in the 80s. Does it sorta resemble an Oliver 50/55 series tractor? The Corporate site for CBT is www.cbttratores.com.br but it does not work at this time. I think they are still in business though,but not sure.

Woodbeef, Your handle is just what my neighbor with the CBT does for $. They cut, split, and deliver wood off their 160 acres (often to BBQ resturants) and raise cattle Wood & Beef! The word was that before the tranny went out, the hydraulics of the 3PH went so they used a come-along to manipulate the 3PH but when the tranny failed they lost locomotion and the PTO so it is a pretty useless lawn ornament now.

Thanks so much for the leads. They are really great neighbors and I would like to be able to help them get the CBT working again. I'll follow up and see what happens.

I know AGCO is selling Masseys made in Brazil. Maybe there is some relation.....

Interesting b/c I was just looking at a MF series 400 tractor made in Brazil. It also had a Perkins and a very nice machine!!! jimg

CBT is history. They were sold to Yanmar do Brazil. YdB then sold the tractors to Agrale.
