After about 6 weeks, my new 3830 was finally delivered by the dealer. Here is a picture of it arriving at its new home.

Here's the loaner tractor the dealer gave for me the last two weeks ready to swap places. This is a nice little TC25D, which after driving the 3830, I came to realize was sorely underpowered for what I was doing. The 6' rotary cutter was probably way too big for this machine.

Here's the first "driver" of the new tractor! She obviously likes it, compare her mood between the loaner and the new one. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Out of focus shot of the hour meter. It was actually 1.0 when it came off the trailer.

Putting the new tool to work. It cuts through these weeds fairly easily; unlike the poor little 25D which I had to stop every 3 feet to let the engine rpm come back up to speed.

Another shot of the weeds. These are mostly burdock and thistles, which reach higher than the ROPS on the tractor.

Finished the initial inaguration weed run. The front grille is clogged with seeds and other muck, afterwards I got out the air compressor and blew everything clean again.

After mowing, I switched implements and put the boxblade back on, then tried it out on our gravel driveway. I took out a 4" deep gully caused by the rains, and inadverdently added a 2" speed bump across the drive. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif It looks like I'm going to have to practice for a while to get the hang of using the boxblade on an incline with the tilt controls, as well as using the front loader for leveling.

No pictures this time, I forgot the camera.

First impressions on the 3830 (after moving up from the TN25D loaner) is that it has a LOT more power, and everything is very smooth. When turning the 25D, the front wheels would skid across the turf, probably because it was overpowered by the rotary cutter. No such problem on the 3830, it pushes that cutter all over the place as if it didn't weigh anything. The only time it really bogged down was cutting up the hill in 'M', can't maintain speed even with the lightest touch on the HST pedal. No problem this is what 'L' is for; after downshifting, no problems at all. I'm currently running the engine at the "2' mark, to take it easy, although I'm not sure what the correct speed should be. The owners manual (that I read afterwards) simply says "do not run at full power for first 50 hours". What's full power, 3000 rpm?

John - at least your daughter will put her hands on the wheel of the 'Bota. That's the way I flush public toilets, too. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
