trying to pick a new tools for either my JD 319D Tracked skid steer or my JD 4700 tractor. Need to maintian a long 1800 foot gravel driveway but also enjoy foodplotting in a major scale. I basically know what a Harley rake can do, they are real expensive, I normally just rent one when I need one for a job or at home, however the TR3 rake by ABI catch my interest. Its a bit cheaper and looks like a decent tool to own and for what i describe above. Does anyone own or use a TR3 rake and can you offer any opinion on it. thanks in advance.

A harley rake isn't for food plots and would likely not be great for your drive either. I'd suggest a landplane for your drive way and disk harrow for your food plots. I own a harley rake and it's worth the price for new lawns but not very good at fields. I used my harley on a 3 acre field for a bubby and the results weren't as good as I'd hoped. I could've done better with a plow or harrow and maybe a pulverizer.

Comparing the TR3 to a Harley rake, IMO the are both priced high. I have no experience with a harley rake but I have used one of the ABI rakes (arena rascal I think) and it didnt seem heavy enough to maintain a driveway. That being said it was only a 4' model but the cost per foot is kinda ridiculous. Just to throw this out there, I sell a product i call the Jake Rake that will do both the jobs you have listed as it is available with a spike harrow and or a grading blade. Here's my website if your interested: Jake's Implements - Home and I do offer them in JD green.

I used to run a Harley rake on my tractor and it worked incredibly well, but I gave the tractor up for a CTL and that machine with a Harley rake is a different animal than a tractor with one. The CTL gives you the ability to rake forward or backwards and allows you to grade out piles of material. As far as driveway grading I use mine for it all the time and would not use anything else, it does a fantastic job loosening packed process and pulling material in from the edges of the driveway. I would recommend the MX7 model, it is an expensive attachment but I find that it would be hard to operate my business efficiently without it. Of course this is just my opinion, there are several other attachments that are less expensive that will grade a driveway I am just speaking from my own experience.

Do you have a pressurized cab? I have a Harley PRO 8 on a 3PH. A neighbor has one on his SS without cab. That combo isn't something I would wish upon my enemy. Sitting in a dust storm!

If I had a SS, I would like a Preperator (sp?). Make a seedbed AND collect the stones and debris. That would be my must-have SS attachment.
