Towing a trailer B2710

I usually use a drawbar on the 3 PH to tow a trailer. This works well. Sometimes, if the load is very heavy, the drawbar will rock backwards as I am towing the load. I have never had the trailer come loose YET, and I do not want it to. :~> Does anyone know of a device that will prevent the drawbar from moving back and forth? I would still like to maintain the tilt option if that is possible. I bought a "drawbar lock" from a local tractor dealer but it would not fit on the adjustable links of the 3 PH.

BTW, this is for a 2710 tractor.

Any ideas, suggestions, etc.. greatly appreciated.

You might just add a couple of tabs to go around or just over and under the three point hitch arms. Leave a little space just to make it easier to put on and off. This is not the best way to hook a trailer to the tractor although it is done quiet often.

I made this hitch for my B2710 that takes a 2" reciever off of my truck. Works quite well when I have to move my 16' trailer around. I have seen these for sale in the Northern catalog.

Tisco sell a little $15 thing that quickly attaches to the lift arm and supports the drawbar between the lift arms so it doesn't spin. I got mine at my dealer. Works great!!

I've never actually hooked a trailer to it, but what about the draw bar built into the back of the tractor? Can't you put a ball on that? I guess the question is whether or not there is enough clearance for the tongue to get in there between the rear tires.

Alan, I pulled trailers both ways with my B2710. The "swinging" drawbar (that doesn't actually swing at all on a B2710) works just fine, but I couldn't turn quite as tight with it or I would have gotten my rear tires into the trailer tongue.

I have a similar hitch hookup as Von. I bolted mine to the draw bar in case wanted to move it to a bigger tractor. See attached picture. I still have not painted it yet. /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif
My main use for it is to move my Bearcat chipper around. The tongue on this thing must weigh close to 100 lbs. /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif
I use the offset hitch to get the ball under the tongue when trailer is low.

Thanks for the info. I will try Northern to see what they have OR I'll try to make one myself. Just gotta get that welder now

I purchased the setup from Northern Tool. Yes - it costs considerably more than if I would have done it myself, but I kept putting it off. Finally broke down and ordered the part - much better for towing than just the drawbar! I would definately not go back!
