Just thought yall might get a kick out of my pics of me trailering with my off-road toy.

These were from back in December when we had 20" of snow. My F-250 wasn't up to the task so I found a 10" drop hitch and wired up a trailer plug on the back of of my '79 F-150. It towed surprisingly well despite being built for 'wheeling. Front and rear lockers, 36" TSLs and about 315hp/410lb. ft. made short work of this load even on some of the unplowed back roads which were pretty deep.

Good looking old Ford. I always wanted one like that since Uncle Jessy for the Dukes of Hazard had that white one.

Lockers are amazing. We have about 20" of snow on the ground and its still coming down. My F-350 and F-250 diesel 4x4's are both useless for the most part. They will get themselves around but that is about it. My Titan on the other hand with 33's and Detroit Lockers is amazing. It has a 2" factory lift. I have pulled out a Dually Dmax , a Camero, 3/4 ton GM, F-150, and a GM 1500 all of which are 4x4. The dually and F-150 were both plow trucks that got stuck. I have know idea how the dumb____ in the Camero made it as far as they did but got stuck 10' off the main road once they turned into a neighborhood.

Looks good. Just don't try to make any of those "Vertical Trax" while connected!:D

lol, yeah as much as I want to get out and play it has to pull work duty for a while. Its back hooked up to the trailer now, I got too bold and tried to haul my tractor with my F-250 last week and ended up sliding off the driveway over by the house. Took a 110hp 4wd case IH to pull me out. I don't like towing with this truck because the tires are expensive and this is pretty hard on them, especially with a spool in the back. Also, with the bed being dovetailed like it is the rear tires stick out and absolutely cover my tractor in salt. But, at least it gets me to my jobs when the weather is bad...

Lockers do make a big difference. I might eventually put one in the rear of my F-250, but I think one of my biggest problems is the tires are about shot. I like the looks of those in your pics, I might look into a set in 285/75R16s for my F-250.

I pulled out a few people during the first big snow we had, it seems like they get so excited they just forget how to drive. Either that or they think because they have a 4wd or AWD vehicle they can cruise along at 55-60mph in the snow like it was a dry day.

I have a 1000' driveway with a slight grade going out. We have 10-12" of snow on the ground here. I never plow snow almost never. I get in and out just fine with a Cobalt and Van. Wife's AWD mini laughs at 12" snow. I hear people all the time telling me they can't get out their 40' drive or how they got to plow to get out. We've been doing it now for 15yrs w/2WD vehicles and I think I've only moved snow 2 times in 15yrs. 20" yeh I would move that.

You should buy a lottery ticket then! No way you would move 6' in the wet slop we get most the time in a Cobalt. I pulled out stuck cars just last week in 6" or less of snow on our road just from drifts.

All of my vehicles 4wd so I don't really need to plow either. However, if I don't get the snow up it will pack and turn to ice. Sometimes it stays below freezing long periods of time and its not fun walking, driving, hauling stuff, etc on ice for days on end.

Tires have alot to do with traction. My van was very poor in mud and snow tell I put a set of Wranglers RS\T's on it. Amazing how well its does now. We do get the ice pack thing because as it snowing someone is constantly going in and out and packing it down and I have a gravel drive. We've got about the same snow as Indy I suspect and much of it was real wet when it fell. Dry the next day after temps went back down. Anyone who knows me knows I don't plow snow unless its absolutely necessary. I think driving skill (not to say I have much) has something to do with it to. I turn the corner into my drive with enough speed to punch through what the county piled up at the end and then keep my speed up with just the right amount of power to limit wheel slip. If I make it down I can make it up usually. Not stuck yet this year though. And like I said 1000' gravel drive. My wifes Uplander AWL can drive through the yard and not get stuck. It was our first AWL vehicle and I am amazed at AWL capability.
I think about all the people plowing short paved drives that own 4WD or AWL vehicles that pull straight into their garages from just a few feet off the road or street. What a soft society we have become. I've told people for yrs I can drive any car in 8" of snow on flat ground. So far any car I've owned has done it.

My Ford Super Duty F250 Lariat, Supercab, 4x4 with Factory Off-Road Lift, 7.3L PSD, ZF 6-Speed Trans and new Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor Tires has no problem in up to 2' of fresh snow and holds its own in packed snow with an under layer of ice. Iv'e pulled my flatbed cargo trailer loaded with Bridgeport Vertical Mills, Metal Lathes, etc weighing about 12,000 lbs through a foot+ of snow. Most has to do how you drive it. Where I live up at 8,000' in the Rockies there are many days when you drive through fresh unplowed snow on the County Roads up and down hills to get to the main sometimes unplowed highway. When I was a kid in the 40s most people drove 2 WD cars and trucks in the snow. The 4WDs came about as WWII Army Surplus and were a luxury!!
