Tough JD X740 diesel 7 Iron deck

Helped a buddy out today and started to mow his knee high 2 acres of grass.He tells me he has walked it all and its clear(my mistake for not walking it myself)Well just about finished and BOOM I hit a old tree log.My deck(7 iron) shuts down and stops,HOLY CHIT I see a chunk of wood lodged between the deck and blade plus a broken pully belt.After yanking off the deck replacing a $37 dollar belt (PIA)and hot out to boot I was back in business.IMHO I got lucky but was very impressed how tough the 7 iron deck was.

Glad to hear that the deck survived and the belt gave under the torque. Incredibally well engineered!
I fully agree. Nothing runs like a Deere!
